Chicago Earns 3 A's with Road Sweep

June 15, 1982
OAKLAND -- Bill Almon's 2-run triple highlighted a 4-run 4th inning for the White Sox, leading to a 5-2 victory. Davey Lopes (3) started the game scoring in the 2nd with a 2-run clout for the Athletics. LaMarr Hoyt (5-5) got the CG win for Chicago. Pat Underwood (2-5) took the loss for Oakland after replacing starter Brian Kingman in the 1st. Kingman left with shoulder stiffness, apparently from not being warmed up completely. He is not expected to miss his next start.

OAKLAND -- Steve Kemp (3 hits) doubled twice and drove in 4 runs in a 6-1 White Sox victory. Sox hurlers Britt Burns (7-4) and Salome Barojas (9) gave up just 5 hits and struck out 10 A's batters between them. Cliff Johnson (5) nailed Oakland's only run with a solo shot in the 6th. Rick Langford (5-9) threw 144 pitches in a CG loss.

OAKLAND -- Tony Armas (13,14) homered twice and drove in 4 runs for the A's. His second tater was a 3-run shot in the 9th pulling Oakland to a 1-run deficit, 7-6. But alas, Barojas (10) was able to record the 27th  out to pick up the very shaky save for Steve Trout (4-9) and preserve the road sweep for Chicago. Tony Bernazard (5) highlighted a 5-run 2nd for the ChiSox with a 3-run bomb. Mike Norris (4-9) started and lost for Oakland, which has now lost 8 straight.
