Oakland gets past the Brew Crew at home

Game 1

Steve McCatty pitched a complete game while Rickey Henderson and Cliff Johnson each hit first inning homers as the A's jumped out to a quick lead and then coasted to a victory after that.

McCatty struck out seven Brewers and walked just one as he now has 4 victories on the season.

Cecil Cooper had 4 hits, and Ted Simmons had 3 more, pacing 

the way the Brewers, who evened the series with the A's via 

a 16-hit attack.  Reggie Cleveland pitched 2 innings for his 

first save of the season. Dwayne Murphy hit his 4th homer for

Oakland.

Mike Norris turned in a solid pitching performance, going the

distance to beat Pete Vuckovich and the Brewers in this 

deciding game of the three-game series. 

Norris struck out 6 and scattered just 5 hits, while Wayne

Gross
