Looking to close out the series LA sent Happy Hooton to the hill. Unfortunately there were no smiles on his face as LA's beleaguered starter was chased after giving up 7 runs in 2 AB's. Montreal's Scott Sanderson answered the call and allowed just 2 runs in 6 2/3 innings. Veteran Woodie Fryman and closer Jeff Reardon would take it the rest of the way. Montreal's first 3 batters each had 2 hits to set the table for "Kid" Carter and "Eli" Wallach, who each had 2 RBI's.
Series tied 2-2
