CHICAGO -- Ross Baumgarten (9-4) pitched 8 strong innings as Chicago bested Detroit 3-2. LaMarr Hoyt (7) hurled the 9th for the save. Bill Amon and Greg Luzinski led the offense with 2 hits apiece.
September 1, 1981
CHICAGO -- Dan Petry (7-8) went the full 9, scattering six hits and yielding 1 run as Detroit whipped Chicago 7-1. Steve Kemp (7) homered in one of his two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Ron Jackson and Kirk Gibson also had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
September 2, 1981
CHICAGO -- Carlton Fisk banged out 3 hits and drove in 3 runs as the Pale Hose captured the rubber game 7-2. Greg Luzinski (26) added a 2-run blast. Richard Dotson (7-4) tossed 7 IP for the win. Newly acquired veteran Jerry Koosman (1) came on and recoded the 27th out with the bases loaded.
