PITTSBURGH -- "El" Nino Espinosa (2-4) was more of a benevolent weather god to the Bucs hitters. hallowed 7 ER on 11 hits in 4 IP and Pittsburgh won easily 10-2. Meanwhile, Eddie Solomon (2-1) was a rock-solid island on the bump for the Pirates through 7 IP. Phil Garner (3 RBI) and Jason Thompson led the Buccos offense with 3 hits apiece.

May 24, 1981
PITTSBURGH -- Jim Bibby (1) blasted a massive 428-foot home run to LCF in the 7th to give the Pirates the margin they needed in a 3-2 win and a sweep of the in-state rival Phillies. AND, btw, Bibby (4-1) also went the distance on the mound, yielding just 5 hits. Lowa Bowa had 3 of those knocks for the Phils. Steve Nicoscia and Mike "The Hit Man" Easler knocked in the other runs for the Bucs.
