Angels-White Sox Split 4 in ChiTown

June 30, 1970 at Chicago – Carney Lansford went 4-4 with 4 RBI to lead the Angels to a high-scoring 10-8 win. Rod Carew contributed 3 hits and 3 runs as Dave LaRoche (1-1) notched the win in relief with Andy Hassler (4) grabbing the save. Harold Baines (8), Jim Morrison (4) and Thad Bosley (2) all went yard for the ChiSox to keep them in the game.

July 1, 1970 at Chicago – Steve Trout (5-6) pitched 7 strong innings and Ed Farmer (11) finished up as Chicago evened the series with a 4-2 win. Bob Molinaro (4) homered in the 1st, but it was a 3-run 6th inning, highlighted by a Todd Cruz 2-run single that propelled the Pale Hose to victory.

July 2, 1970 at Chicago – Frank Tanana (6-4) was lights out with a CG, 4-hit shutout. He fanned 5 and walked none. Carew led the offense with 2 hits including an RBI double in a 4-0 Halos whitewashing.


July 3, 1970 at Chicago – Chicago earned the split in the series with a 5-3 win on get-away day. Tom Foley’s (1) first tater of the year was the game-winner in the 6th. Wayne Nordhagen (6) added an insurance HR in the 8thBobby Clark of the Angels led all batters with 3 hits. Rich Wortham (3-5) started and won for the ChiSox. He has relief help from Lamarr Hoyt and Farmer (12).
