PHILLIES TAKE A PAIR FROM BRAVES
The Philadelphia Phillies continued their winning ways sweeping a short two game series in Atlanta.

The Philadelphia Phillies outlasted the Atlanta Braves 4-2 in a 15 inning affair. With the score tied 2-2 in the 15th, the Phillies scored 2 runs on a double by Bake McBride and a sac fly by Mike Schmidt. Bake McBride led the Phillies attack with 4 hits and 3 RBI.
The Braves managed only 2 runs on 14 hits, leaving 11 men on base. Back in the lineup after an extended stay on the DL, Bob Horner led the offense with 3 hits.

The Phillies potent offense and a strong pitching performance by Steve Carlton spelled disaster for the Braves in game two. Once again, Bake McBride was the hitting star for the Phillies going 3-5 with 4 RBI including two home runs. Gary Maddox added 3 hits and 2 RBI and a home run.
Gary Mathews and Chris Chambliss had 2 hits apiece for the Braves
