White Tops Red in Hosiery Battle

April 29, 1980 at Chicago – Ross Baumgarten (2-1) pitched 8 strong innings, including no-hit ball through the first 4 as Chicago version of hosiery topped the Boston version 6-2 in the opener of a 3-game set. Marv Foley and Greg Pryor drove in two runs apiece from their spots at the bottom of the Pale Hose lineup.  

April 30, 1980 at Chicago – Harold Baines (3) went 4-5 with a 2B, HR and 4 RBI to lead the White Sox to a 7-3 victory. The ChiSox put 6 on the board in the first 2 innings against Dennis Eckersley (1-3). A Chet Lemon (4) 2-run bomb down the LF line was the biggest hit. Richard Dotson (3-1) recorded the W.


May 1, 1980 at Chicago – Carmine fans were wondering where their offense was this series, well it showed up midway through this contest, and how! Boston plated 10 runs over the final 4 innings to overcome a 4-0 deficit and capture the finale 10-5. Fred Lynn had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Tony Perez (5) also homered and drove in 3. Glenn Hofman (2) also went yard. Steve Renko (2-0) picked up the pieces and scavenged the win.
