BRAVES DERAIL EXPOS

The Atlanta Braves continue their winning ways taking their second consecutive series by defeating the Montreal Expos two games in the three game series.

GAME 1: ATLANTA 5  MONTREAL 2
                WP: Boggs (2-1), S: Hrabosky (2)
                LP: Lee (2-1)

Wade Boggs pitched seven strong innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, enroute to his second win of the year. Boggs' excellent outing was supported by a 12 hit Atlanta attack led by Jerry Royster's three hits. Chris Chambliss and Jeff Burroughs chipped in with two hits each. Brian Asseistine had two RBI and Larvel Blanks hit his first home run of the year.

 

GAME 2: ATLANTA 8  MONTREAL 3
                WP: NIEKRO (4-1)
                LP: GRIMSLEY (0-1) 



The Atlanta Braves battered five Expo pitchers for 8 runs and 17 hits while Phil Niekro pitched a complete game for his fourth victory. The Braves scored in each of the first six innings chasing starter Ross Grimsley after just 3.1 innings. The Braves attach was led by Jerry Royster's 4 hits and 3 RBI. Dale Murphy ( double, home run(4)  , 2RBI) and Luis Gomes added 3 hits apiece. Jeff Burroughs also added his first home run of the year.

Warren Cromarte and Ron LeFlore homered for the Expos. Ellis Valentine added 2 hits, including a double.

GAME 3: MONTREAL 5  ATLANTA 4
                WP: SANDERSON (2-2)  S: FRYMAN (2)
                LP:   McWILLIAMS (0-1)

The Montreal Expos rallied from a 4-0 deficit with 3 runs in the 6th inning and 2 runs in the 7th inning to salvage game three. The Expos attack was led by Ellis Valentine's 3 hits and 3 RBI. It was Valentine's (4)  7th inning, 2 run homer which put the Expos ahead for good.

The Braves were led by Dale Murphy's 3 hits and back up catcher Joe Nolan's 2 hits. Jeff Burroughs (2) homered and had 2 RBI.
