A's split with Angels, Keough moves to 3-0

Game 1 - California 6  Oakland 3
WP - Kison (1-0)  LP - Kingman (1-1)  S - Clear (1)

Bobby Grich hit a 3-run HR off Brian Kingman and Bruce Kison pitched 7 solid innings to lead the Angels over the A's in game 1 of the 4-game set.

Game 2 - Oakland 3  California 2
WP - Norris (1-0)  LP - Aase (0-1)  S - Lacey (2)

Mike Norris struck out 8 in 6 2/3 innings, leaving with a one-run lead.  Jeff Jones and Bob Lacey then followed with solid relief to help give Norris his first W on the year.

Game 3 - Oakland 4  California 1
WP - Keough (3-0)  LP - Knapp (1-1)

Matt Keough kept it rollin' with another complete
game victory, this time shutting down the Angels
4-1.  Keough struck out three but wiggled his way
out of a few jams and now has his ERA at a microscopic
0.67 over three starts.
Jeff Newman and Dave Revering supplied the power
for the A's, each homering for the second time
this year.

Game 4 - California 4  Oakland 3
WP - Tanana (1-0)  LP - McCatty (1-1)  S - Clear (2)

Frank Tanana was outstanding as he led this team to
victory and a split of the 4-game series  in Oakland.
Tanana pitched into the eighth, striking out 7 A's.
Mark Clear picked up his second save of the series, and
Don Baylor and Carney Lansford each had 3 hits to pace
the Angels.
Baylor's 5th inning 2-run homer off Steve McCatty
proved to be the winning margin for California.
